Ocean Escapes Private Charter Boat & Captain
While staying at the lodge guests have exclusive free access to the use of the boat and captain for any day of your stay. Discover the breathtaking coastline of Mercury Bay and beyond. Crystal clear turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, marine reserves and the famous Cathedral Cove.
Guided Kayaking Trips
Utilising the lodges stable double kayaks head off the beaten track to explore the stunning bays, inlets & rivers of Mercury Bay. Choose one of our guided kayak trip options;
Creek to Coast
A scenic paddle down river and into the beautiful Whitianga harbour taking in historic sites along the way. Pull up on the calm shores of Whitianga beach and finish your journey at one of the many popular beachfront eateries.
Cathedral Cove
Kayak along the volcanic coastline through the abundant marine reserves to the world famous Cathedral Cove. Take a stroll through the breathtaking tunnel & enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters.
Mountain Biking
The lodge has its own exclusive mountain bike loop track with small jumps & burms for added fun. Bike rental available if required.
Peak to Creek
A scenic guided one way ride from the top of the Coromandel ranges down to the flats. Enjoy the stunning views and beautiful ancient NZ native bush along the way. At the end of your ride enjoy a refreshing swim in one of our many crystal clear fresh water swim holes or a bite to eat at the iconic Coroglen Tavern.
Zipline
For the adventure lovers the lodge is equipped with an 80m zip line right from the second storey deck down through the native bush. If you dare take a ride on the Night Rider – zip down at night under the light of our tree lights & stars. For the ultimate daredevil try our black out nighttime zipline option.
Paddle Boarding
The lodge comes equipped with stand up paddle boards which are perfect for exploring off the beaten path. Cruise up the stunning calm waterways to secret walks & tree jump spots. Paddle from the boat into Cathedral Cove or the famous Orua Blow Hole.
Surfing
The Coromandel Peninsula has some of NZ’s best surf spots. When the swell is up the Crystal clear uncrowded waves are waiting for you.
Surf Lessons
If you have always wanted to give surfing a go, we have a qualified surf instructor ready to get you going on your first wave. All gear provided.
Kai Moana Hunting
If hunting & gathering is part of what you love to do you have come to the right place. Mercury Bay is abundant with a huge variety of fish, crayfish & shell fish. Whether you prefer land based fishing, spearfishing or kayak fishing we have the perfect spot for you. If you have always loved the idea of being a provider and want to give this a go our qualified rescue diver & experienced kai moana hunter is ready to teach you the ways. Come give kai moana hunting a go and walk away with a delicious feed for you and your crew.
